Jakarta, IO – Tom Jones, an iconic musician from the 1960s and 1980s, gave a successful, “Ages & Stages,” on March 8, 2024, in the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Mulia in Senayan, Central Jakarta. “Let’s sing together. I have an extraordinary moment tonight,” said Tom Jones on stage.

Tom Jones continued his performance with more classic songs from 1965, from “Not Dark Yet,” “It’s Not Unusual,” to “What’s New Pussycat?” A more timeless “Sexbom,” presented in distinctive American blues style.

The audience was eagerly waiting for his hit, “Delilah,” Tom Jones’ most renowned song in Indonesia, a must-singsong on the list. “So, I recorded Delilah in Bob Dylan’s era. I really admire his work,” said Tom Jones before singing the song.

The song was released in 1968, when it was so popular that it was performed at the Wales National Football Festival at Old Stadium.

Tom Jones also performed “Delilah” in 1999, during the pre-match preparations for Wales’ victory over England at Wembley Stadium.

The stage heated up when Tom Jones sang another hit song, “Green Green Grass of Home,” when the audience enthusiastically sang along to the refrain of the song.

Apart from singing his classic hits, Tom Jones also presented a new song, “The Windmills of Your Mind.” “The next song is my latest single. I really love this song because it reminds me of a friend,” said the 83-year-old musician.

Jones was reminded of his late, dear friend, Elvis Presley. “Elvis Presley once asked me about the shows and meeting people who went along with others,” expressed the British music legend.

Jones also mentioned that he had met Chuck Berry, the original singer of “Johnny B. Goode.” “When we met Chuck Berry, Elvis asked me who the king of rock and roll was,” he said.

The 83-year-old legend disclosed that Elvis dubbed Berry the “King of Rock and Roll”.

The Welsh senior singer is known to have created a song about his dear friend Elvis. The song “Elvis Presley Blues” encapsulates their friendship before Elvis passed away in 1977.

As well as Jakarta, Tom Jones also visited Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Taipei, and Singapore, for his current tour. (des)
