Jakarta, IO – President-elect Prabowo Subianto urged his supporters to maintain national unity by not conducting rallies outside the Constitutional Court (MK) building.

“I, Prabowo Subianto, forcefully ask the Indonesian people, especially the 96.2 million voters who voted for Prabowo-Gibran not to conduct any demonstration outside the Constitutional Court building or in other places in order to preserve a peaceful democracy, and maintain national unity and integrity,” said Prabowo.

“We understand that Prabowo-Gibran supporters and voters are upset and emotional with all the accusations [of electoral fraud] hurled at us, but we must exercise restraint and not be provoked by parties who seek to create tense atmosphere,” said Prabowo.

According to Prabowo, acting with restraint is not a sign of weakness, but a manifestation of attitude to uphold the best interests of the people and nation.

“Let me say this once more, let us be calm, cool, restrained, let the Constitutional Court judges carry out their noble duties with wisdom by always prioritizing the interests of the Indonesian nation and people for the sake of the country that we all love,” added Prabowo.

Earlier, supporters of Prabowo-Gibran planned to protest outside MK to “safeguard” the election victory of the pair nominated by the Onward Indonesia Coalition (KIM) as MK is expected to read out its ruling on the challenge filed by the losing pairs, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.
