Jakarta, IO – Erika Retnowati, head of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas), informed that fuel stock during Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr is adequate to last for more than 20 days.

“In general, the condition of fuel stock is sufficient, either gasoline, gasoil, kerosene or aviation fuel (avtur) with stock durability of more than 20 days, and this is higher than the previous year which was around 17-18 days,” she said, Wednesday (3/4).

BPH Migas and state energy company Pertamina have put 115 fuel terminals, more than 7,400 gas stations and 71 aircraft refueling depots (DPPU), as well as additional facilities in areas with high traffic on standby.

Erika estimates that the distribution of fuel products during the festive season will increase — gasoline by 11 percent and aviation fuel by 1.3 percent. By contrast, gasoil (diesel fuel) is expected to fall 15 percent.

For LPG, Pertamina has readied 30 LPG terminals, 723 LPG bulk filling and transportation stations (SPPBE), and 5,027 LPG agents. “The assessment for nationwide LPG stock shows that it is sufficient for an average of 14 days,” said Erika.

The distribution of natural gas is estimated to reach 846 billion British thermal units per day (BBTUD) during Ramadan and Eid (minimum 534 BBTUD on April 11, maximum 937 BBTUD on April 3) for 3,108 commercial and industrial customers, 1,986 small enterprises, 817,211 households within the gas network, as well as power plants including those belonging to state electricity company PLN. This will be achieved by optimizing the natural gas network and infrastructure of more than 32,343 km, 13 gas refueling stations, three Mobile Refueling Units (MRU) with a capacity of 19,175 liters of premium equivalent (LSP) and three Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) terminals managed by state-owned gas distribution company PGN.

Erika also assured that electricity supply for Java, Bali, Sumatra, Kalimantan and the majority of regions in eastern Indonesia is optimal. “The Directorate General of Electricity and PLN are alerting all work units to maintain reliability and steady supply of electricity by preparing operational procedures during Ramadan and Eid,” said Erika.

Finally, the command post has also established the Geological Disaster Emergency Response Team which will respond quickly to potential disaster and be on the standby within 24 hours. Volcanic activity monitoring will also be increased at several active volcanoes.

“We hope that all these anticipatory efforts can be maintained, especially in areas with high crowd density such as tourist destinations, major traffic routes as well as areas prone to traffic jams and area vulnerable to natural disasters,” she said. (eka)
