Indonesia writes history after advancing into the AFC U-23 Asian Cup

Jakarta, IO – Indonesia’s U-23 national football team created new history by securing a place in the semi-final of the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup after defeating South Korea in a dramatic match in Doha, Qatar, Friday (26/4).

The winner had to be decided through tie-breaking penalty shootouts after both teams drew 2-2 and no goal was created in the extra time. The final score was 11-10.

The first goal was created by Rafael Struick in the 15th minute.

However, Komang Teguh’s own goal in the 45th minute allowed South Korea to equalize. But Struick scored again near the of the first half.

In the second half, South Korea had to play with 10 players from the 69th minute after Lee Young-jung was given a red card. South Korea scored another goal in the 85th minute.

Indonesia will either face off against Uzbekistan or Saudi Arabia in the semi-final. (un)
