Jakarta, IO – Members of the Coalition of Musicians for Gaza staged a demonstration in front of the US Embassy, Jakarta, Friday (19/4). Themed “Stop Palestinian Genocide”, it appeals for an immediate ceasefire and independence for Palestine. In addition, it serves as a platform for young people to express their support for Palestine.
The participants read poetry, played music and sang songs in support. They also painted and stuck duct tape on the road bearing messages urging Israel to end violence against the Palestinians. Some of them were also seen carrying posters and banners condemning Israel’s genocide in Gaza and rejecting the support from the US.
The groups of musicians consisted of The Brandals, Seringai, Indische Party, The Panturas, Dongker, The Jansen, Straight Answer, Efek Rumah Kaca, Humanimal, The Safari, Tashoora, and Kelompok Penerbang Roket.

There are also solo artists like Godplant, Melanie Subono, Rebecca Reijman, Siksa Kubur, Swellow, Mouthless, Bella & Chiki Fawzi, Ananda Badudu, Sisitipsi, Grow Rich, and Kojek Rap Betawi. Some of them performed while others made speeches.
