Other than practice, he says that teaching methods are also very important especially for kids. As an example he tells the audience his way of getting his daughter to grow interest towards piano: composed a book that consists compilation of his works for her to practice.

The book—titled Alicia’s Piano Book—was named after Ananda’s daughter. He combines techniques with catchy pieces to keep the learning process interesting.
“There are so many kids that studied using books like Hanon or Burgmuller. It is very technical, resulting in many end up stop studying piano because of those,” he says.

After the discussion 16 students perform solo pieces, with some of them playing Ananda Sukarlan’s works from his book Nusantara Bersama, Alicia’s Piano Book (Series) and Transformations on Indonesian Children Songs.

Ending the concert is duet performance from Wilibrordus Vidi and Alfonsus Jastin playing “Gelang Sipaku Gelang”. Right after is “Soleram” played by Laurencius Steven H and Laurencius Karen H.
