Jakarta, IO – The Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al Shun sent a letter to mosque executive chairmen in Indonesia on Thursday (12/10) to convey his hope that mosques in Indonesia could broadcast the latest situation in Gaza at Friday Prayer sermons.

“We hope that the Friday sermon to be delivered on October 13 2023 in mosques in Indonesia will talk about Palestine, Baitul Maqdis, the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque,” read the letter, per CNNIndonesia, Friday (13/10).

Al Shun appealed that the mosques can convey the message that Israel’s occupation of Palestine is a violation of legitimate rights, as all nations in the world are entitled to.

Al Shun also expressed his gratitude for the support of the Indonesian people amid the Israel-Hamas war.

Al Shun stated that Israeli troops have continued to attack and bombard Gaza all this while, even had no qualms in killing civilians, including children and women.

“Following the latest developments in Jerusalem, Gaza and other cities, this is nothing new for us (Palestinians),” said Al Shun.

Indonesia is one of the countries that supports Palestinian independence and condemns violence committed by any party, not least Israel. Indonesia often expresses its support in international forums such as the UN.

The latest conflict erupted when Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, launched an unprecedented attack against Israel last weekend. The war, which has lasted for almost a week, has killed hundreds of people and left thousands injured. (un)
