Melasti Ceremony in Parangtritis Increases Tourist Visits to Bantul

Jakarta, IO – The Melasti ceremony to welcome the Nyepi Day of Saka Year 1946 at Parangkusumo Beach, Parangtritis, Bantul regency, Yogyakarta, Sunday (3/3), was able to attract and increase tourist visits to the tourist destination.

“Specifically for the Parangtritis Beach tourist area, the number of visits increased by around 1,200 people compared to last week,” said Bantul Tourism Office’s head of promotion and information Markus Purnomo Aji, per Republika, Mon (4/3).

He noted that the number of tourists to the Parangtritis Beach area on Sunday (3/3) was 9,257 people, up by around 15 percent compared to 8,030 on Sunday (25/2).

Therefore, his office supports activities in one of the series of Nyepi celebrations at Parangkusumo Beach, because apart from being part of the tradition, it also introduces more tourist destinations along the south coast of Bantul to the public.

Furthermore, Markus said that the data on tourist visits to all southern coastal destinations of Bantul from the east to the west and other natural tourist attractions on Sunday (3/3) was 12,242 people, generating a local income of Rp118.8 million from tourism-related activities.

“The number of arrivals for the Parangtritis Beach area were 9,257 people, the west coast tourist area was 2,851 people, then the Selarong Cave tourist attraction was 120 people, and the Cerme Cave tourist attraction was visited by 14 people,” he said.tourist

Meanwhile, the total number of visitors to the Bantul destination during February 2024 was 199,927 tourists with a tourism receipt of Rp1.9 billion. “The number of tourist visits to Bantul during 2024 until the end of February was 399,279 visitors, generating revenue of Rp3.8 billion,” said Markus.
