Jakarta, IO – To establish good, two-way communication with its foster schools, PT. Astra International Tbk through the Astra Education Foundation-Michael D. Ruslim (YPA-MDR) held a Foster Schools Communication Forum (FKSB) themed “Synergizing and Collaborating to Improve the Education in Indonesia” by bringing together principals from 13 areas where its program is carried out to Jakarta for an in-person gathering, with strict observance of Covid-19 health protocols. YPA-MDR chairwoman Herawati Prasetyo said the foundation always tries to formulate impactful training and mentoring programs. “This strategy requires us to be more selective in our programs and continue to analyse the achievement of goals and the impact of each existing program and training/mentoring activity.”
Thus, in addition to the regular Tahapan Sekolah (schooling stages) program, specific and signature programs such as the School Collaboration System, Interactive Teaching Media, CerMat (Smart Mathematics), Young Frontline Teachers, University Student Teaching Partnership, Entrepreneurship, Area Art Learning Center and Little Batik-Making Community are an example of targeted program whose impact on school improvement YPA-MDR will continuously monitor and analyse.
Herawati added that YPA-MDR also focused on providing literacy and numeracy training to improve students’ grades in the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM).
“Meanwhile, to support digitization of school, YPA-MDR provides laptop and internet connection in several areas where internet connectivity is still lacking, IT training and digitalised learning innovation programs to make sure that schools are ready to face global challenges,” she said.
On the same occasion, YPA-MDR also gave appreciation to the foster schools that have been designated pioneering schools and teachers as well as a number of awards including general champion for the implementation of four pillars (academic, character, arts & culture and life skills), commitment achievement, ISO 9001:2015 implementer, self-reliant school maintenance, inspirational principals and teachers with the best management and status of superior schools.
