Police names son of lawmaker suspect in fatal assault case

Jakarta, IO – Gregorius Ronald Tannur (GRT), 31, son of a lawmaker from the National Awakening Party (PKB) Edward Tannur, has been named a suspect by the Surabaya Police in the alleged aggravated assault that resulted in the death of his girlfriend DSA, 29, on Saturday (7/10).

“GRT is a resident of Pakuwon City, Surabaya. Based on CCTV footage, eyewitness accounts and autopsy results, we have named him a suspect,” said Surabaya Police Chief Commissioner Pasma Royce.

“He faces a maximum jail term of 12 years and has been detained since Thursday (5/10),” said Pasma.

Dimas Yemahura, the victim’s lawyer, stated that DSA was allegedly assaulted by GRT at a karaoke parlour inside the Lenmarc Mall, West Surabaya, on Tuesday (3/10). According to Dimas, GRT and DSA had an argument which turned violent. GRT allegedly kicked and hit DSA on the head with a liquor bottle.

Their argument continued in the elevator and parking lot when GRT became more brutal. Police alleged that GRT run over DSA and dragged her body for about 5 meters. When he stopped the car, several security guards came to scene when GRT got out of the car and gave false account that DSA was seriously sick. He then put her inside the trunk and drove her to an apartment at Pakuwon Trade Center (PTC).

However, DSA’s condition deteriorated and she was then taken to the National Hospital where she was declared dead at 2.32am WIB. (un)
