Malaysians protest Tajuddin Abdul Rahman’s appointment as envoy to Indonesia

Jakarta, IO – Malaysians protested the appointment of Tajuddin Abdul Rahman as Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia because he is deemed a controversial figure.

A petition has been signed by 13,500 people as of Thursday (19/5), as per CNN Indonesia’s report on Tuesday (24/5).

Tajuddin is considered controversial because he had previously threatened to slap Malaysians of Chinese descent who voiced their grievances abroad.

However, according to international relations observer Teuku Rezasyah from the Padjadjaran University, Tajuddin may carry out his mandate as Malaysia’s ambassador to Indonesia successfully as he is an experienced member of parliament and minister.
