Jakarta, IO – After successfully holding the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia was again chosen to host an international event, namely the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in 2024 themed “Water for Shared Prosperity”. It aims to respond to global challenges and potential of water scarcity/crisis caused by increased population growth and urbanization.

Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, who was appointed the chairman of the national committee was convinced that the forum, which will be attended by 172 countries, will be as successful as the G20.

“We want this forum to run like the G20, so that all members can formulate concrete measures and programs. The hope is that this will yield a positive impact on the global community,” he said, per Katadata, Thursday (10/8).

Indonesia was chosen as the host of the 9th WWF ministerial meeting in Dakar, Senegal last year. Indonesia managed to garner 30 votes out of a total of 36 to join the World Water Council’s board of governors.
