Ambon, IO – Featuring a unique shape, the guitar monument in the city of Ambon is the only and most special monument in the capital of Maluku province. It has become a symbol of Ambon as the City of World Music. The monument stands tall, surrounded by a fountain complete with the inscription Pattimura Park in the background. The fountain will light up in the evening with its colorful illumination. The monument surface also features graffiti which adds to its artistic elements.
This Guitar Monument stands in the heart of Ambon City, precisely in Patimura Park adjacent to Merdeka Square, the Peace Gong Monument and New Victoria Fort which is now the headquarters of the Patimura Regional Military Command.
That afternoon, Observerid.com had the opportunity to visit the monument which was inaugurated after Ambon was named the World Music City by UNESCO on October 31, 2019. Young people throng the site as it is a popular hang out spot. Many were seen taking selfies. The atmosphere was even livelier because various school activities were centered on Merdeka Square.
