1.3km-long flag will be unfurled in Cikadu village to celebrate Indonesia’s 78th independence anniversary

Jakarta, IO – In the run-up to the 78th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence, a 1.3 kilometer red and white flag will be unfurled in Cikadu village, West Bandung regency.

The flag will span four villages, starting from Kampung Malaka to Kampung Cikadu, per Inews, Thursday (10/8).

Cikadu village chief Depi Chobir explained that the national flag will be slowly hoisted to the height of 5 meters. So far, 540 meters of the flag have been planted and the remaining 765 meters are in the process of being made.

“The width will be about 1.3 meters. This is purely the efforts by the residents themselves,” said Depi. It took about one week for the villager to make the giant flag. He said the the process also reflected the spirit of mutual cooperation which align with the values of independence. (un)
