They explained that with one death every four seconds, it means that as many as 19,700 people are estimated to die from hunger every day. The representative of the Yemen Family Care Association, Mohanna Ahmed Ali Eljabaly who also signed the letter, said that the crisis is worsening.
“It’s abysmal that with all the technology in agriculture and harvesting techniques today we’re still talking about famine in the 21st century,” Eljabaly said.
According to Eljabaly, this crisis is closely related to social injustice that is still prevalent in many countries. He also called for quick actions by providing food assistance to save the lives of people affected by the crisis.

In addition to social injustice, the NGOs mention poverty, gender inequality, conflict, climate change and economic friction are also the causes of global hunger.
