Jakarta, IO – Arman Hanis, the lawyer of disgraced ex-police internal affairs chief Ferdy Sambo, denied the rumour that Ferdy has a “big brother” within the National Police (Polri) who helped him get more lenient punishment in relation to the murder of Brigadier Yoshua Hutabarat (Brigadier J).
“It’s a wild rumour. That figure never exists. Our legal team denies this because it is not clear what and who that accusation refers to,” he said, CNN Indonesia reported on Thursday (22/9).
Arman also denied that his client’s promotion and career was facilitated by the said figure. According to him, Ferdy’s successful career in the police force was purely due to his good performance and achievements.
Arman also said that the decision for promotion cannot be made arbitrarily. This is because it is within the authority of the National Police Chief and through a thorough consideration.

Arman said he doesn’t want to respond to the rumour anymore because it is irrelevant to the murder case being faced by his client.
“We don’t want to comment any further because it’s not related to the legal case we currently handle, thank you,” he said. (un)
