11 Indonesian students make waves at WCS 2022

Jakarta, IO – A proud achievement was made by 11 Indonesian students from IPEKA Integrated Christian School (IICS) junior high school. They grabbed the first place overall at the 2022 World Scholar’s Cup (WSC) held at Yale University, reported Antara, Thursday (15/12).

They managed to win against tough competitors from the U.S., Canada, UAE and Malaysia in the event participated in by around 1,800 students from 60 countries.

“The IICS team consists of eleven junior high school students from grade 7, 8 and 9 aged between 12-14,” said IICS principal Engelina Sutantio.

At the preliminary round of in Bangkok in September, IICS won a total of 21 trophies, 80 gold medals and 21 silver medals. In the final round they won a total of 6 trophies, 39 gold medals and 32 silver medals.

“We are very grateful to God, and very proud of the achievements of our students. It is indeed a very extraordinary achievement. We believe the experience at the WSC equipped them with various interaction and teamwork skills, as well as the persistence to try their best in achieving a goal,” Engelina said.
