Jakarta, IO – The Media and Creative Industry for Democracy Workers Union (Sindikasi) blasted the attitude of the Holywings management, whom they deemed trying to “wash their hands” of the alleged blasphemy case that resulted in six of their creative workers arrested by the police.

“Calling the six workers ‘wayward actors’ is proof that Holywings try to wash their hands and refuses to take responsibility,” the union said in a press release received by observerid.com on Tuesday (28/6).

“The workers did it to promote the company’s programs, not for their personal interests. So, the company should be responsible,” it continued.

The six workers — creative director, head of the promotion team, campaign team, production house team, graphic designer, and social media administrator — were charged with Article 14(1&2) and Article 156(A) of the Criminal Code on blasphemy after they created a social media promotional event to give out free alcoholic drinks to anyone named Muhammad and Maria, two holy figures in Islam.
