Nine UI students awarded scholarships by Marubeni Foundation

IO, Jakarta – Meeting Room A, Central Administration of the University of Indonesia (UI) witnessed a symbolic gift from the Marubeni Scholarship Foundation on Wednesday (02/26/2020) to nine scholarship recipients. The event was opened by the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Prof. Dr. rer nat. Rosari Saleh.

Prof. Rosari stated how the University of Indonesia continuously contributes to society, one form of which is supporting students in their efforts to get a quality education. In collaboration with the Marubeni Scholarship Foundation, the University of Indonesia provides scholarships for students who have good academic marks, are active in organizations and need financial assistance. The amount of each scholarship is IDR 16 million for each student for one full year.

President Director and Chairman of the Marubeni Indonesia Scholarship Foundation, Mr. Takeshi Mamiya added that the Marubeni Scholarship was awarded to support education in Indonesia. One of the partners in this effort is the University of Indonesia, because its students are considered to have potential with superior achievements; some however need financial assistance.

“For nine years the Marubeni Foundation has provided scholarships and has steadily shown its appreciation to students who have achieved good academic grades. It is expected that Marubeni Scholarship recipients will contribute meaningfully to Indonesia in the future. Scholarship recipients will be monitored for academic progress during the scholarship period (for one year),” declared Mr. Takeshi Mamiya.

Fernaldi Rifky Pradana, from the Faculty of Engineering, as one of the Marubeni Scholarship recipients, shared his testimony. “Education is one of the most important things. With education, we can achieve a better quality of life. Thank you to the Marubeni Scholarship Foundation for supporting my education financially. Hopefully, with this scholarship I can achieve even better academic grades,” he said. (*/est)
