Jakarta, IO – The Supreme Court (MA) rejected the cassation appeal by the prosecutor and officially acquitted the former dean of Riau University’s (UNRI) Faculty of Social and Political Science, Syafri Harto, in the sexual harassment case against his student.
MA’s reason for the rejection is not yet known. The verdict, read out on Tuesday (9/8), confirmed the decision of the Pekanbaru District Court to acquit Syafri, CNN Indonesia reported on Thursday (11/8).
At the time, the panel of judges of the first instance court revealed a number of considerations in the acquittal. First, there is no evidence of violence and threats to the victim identified by the initial LM. Since the primary charge was not proven, the charge could not be accepted.
