Jakarta, IO – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s youngest son Kaesang Pangarep admitted that he is interested in joining politics, following the footsteps of his elder brother, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is now the mayor of Solo.

“My father and I were surprised, he openly told us that he was interested in politics,” said Gibran, reported BeritaSatu, Wednesday (25/1). However, Gibran said that Kaesang will “test the water” first.

Gibran further said he didn’t know whether Kaesang would participate in the 2024 Elections. He said Kaesang wishes to contribute to regional development. Moreover, he has directly involved in managing Persis Surakarta FC in the last few years.

“In my opinion, he is a capable young man, and a fast learner,” Gibran said of Kaesang. Asked which political party he might be interested in joining, Gibran said he had no idea. The family, said Gibran, would leave that decision entirely up to him. (un)
