He then coached Spanish U-20 and U-19 national teams and managed to bring the latter to reach the 2010 European U-19 Championship final. However, the victory was dashed. They narrowly lost 2-1 to France.
This failure, however, did not discourage him. He went on to coach Spain’s U-21 team and again succeed in reaching the 2011 Euro Cup U-21 final.

Luis Milla began to coach the Indonesian national team in 2017 for the U-23 and senior players. He was able to significantly improve the quality of Indonesian players, but the trophy still eluded him.
His best achievement was bringing the U-23 team to win the silver medal in the 2017 SEA Games. In 2018 Asian Games, the national team was only able to make it to the round of 16. (rr)
