Indonesian Consulate General in LA urges citizens to be alert amid rising crime

Jakarta, IO – Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Los Angeles asked Indonesian citizens who live or visit the city to be vigilant and careful following the recent spate in crimes.

“In response to the recent escalating security situation, #KJRILosAngeles again appeals to all Indonesian citizens and diaspora who are living in or visiting areas within the jurisdiction of the Indonesian Consulate General in Los Angeles (Arizona, Southern California, Colorado, Hawaii, Southern Nevada, Utah and US Pacific Islands Region), to remain vigilant and alert,” read an alert posted on the KJRI‘s social media accounts, Tuesday (30/5).

Indonesian citizens are advised to store valuable items and documents in a safe place and take a good care of items such as passports, wallets and cellphones while traveling.

“Continue to observe and be alert to developments in the local security situation. This can be monitored through the mass media and official sources of information from local authorities,” the letter added.

In the event of emergency, Indonesian citizens are asked to immediately seek assistance and call 911, including if they lose their passports. Besides contacting the nearest police station, they can also call the immigration hotline at +1 (213) 677-999 or the consulate general’s hotline 24/7 +1 (213) 590-8095. (un)
