Indonesia holds “Know Indonesia Better” festival in Thailand to promote culture and tourism

Jakarta, IO – The Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, in collaboration with a number of agencies and associations, held the Indonesia Fair 2023 at Central World Mall, Bangkok. The exhibition themed “Know Indonesia Better” aims to promote Indonesian culture and tourism.

Indonesian Ambassador to Thailand Rachmat Budiman said the Indonesia Fair was one of a series of Trade, Tourism, Investment and Culture Forum activities organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok. This activity was attended by 32 business entities comprising MSMEs and well-known brands such as cosmetics, food and other Indonesian products, per Kemlu.go.id, Wednesday (30/8).

“The aim is not only to improve trade relations, but also to increase public understanding of Indonesia’s potential while increasing people-to-people contact at the community level,” said Rachmat.

A number of Indonesian cultural performances also livened up the event, including the Ratoeh Jaroe Aceh and Angklung dances by students from the Bangkok Indonesian School (SIB), the Payung Geulis and Jaipong dances performed by SMAN 20 Bandung students and keroncong music by the Mikron acoustic group.

The exhibition showcased Indonesian well-known products ranging from batik, weaved cloth, kebaya, handicrafts, home decorations, to herbal drinks. Over three days, the fair recorded retail transactions and potential transactions worth 1.5 million Baht. (bp)
