Indonesia calls for peaceful resolution in Sudan civil war

Jakarta, IO – Indonesia has expressed concern over the turmoil that has erupted in Sudan since Saturday (15/4). According to official statement posted on the Foreign Ministry’s Twitter account @Kemlu_RI, Indonesia is calling for the violent conflict to be resolved peacefully.

“The safety and wellbeing of the people must be prioritized,” read the statement.

The Indonesian Embassy in Khartoum continues to establish communication with Indonesian citizens in Sudan to ensure their safety. “The Indonesian Embassy’s hotline numbers to contact are +249-907978701, +249-900079060 and +249-900105466,” it informed.

As reported by CNN Indonesia, Wednesday (19/4), the turmoil in Sudan was sparked when military and paramilitary forces clashed due to power struggle. The two military forces attacked each other using tanks, artillery and other heavy weapons in densely populated areas. So far, the civil war has killed 270 people and injured 2,600. (un)
