Jakarta, IO – Indonesian students in Sudan were evacuated following the civil war that erupted between the army and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the capital Khartoum on Saturday (15/4).

According to Muhammadiyah’s official website, Tuesday (18/4) the head of Muhammadiyah branch (PCIM) in Sudan revealed that flames were still visible around the Sudan African International University (IUA) on Sunday (16/4).

“IUA students in dormitories are currently being evacuated to several safe locations on campus because the female student dormitory building is next to the paramilitary headquarters,” read a statement from PCIM Sudan.

Other Indonesian students at the Khartoum International Institute for Arabic Language (KIIFAL) dormitories have also been evacuated to the area around Makmuroh. The evacuation was assisted by a KIIFAL teacher who lives in the area.
