Jakarta, IO – Renowned movie director Hanung Bramantyo said he has introduced shadow puppetry (wayang) characters to folklore to his children since they are young because he wants them to be familiar with traditional culture. He even doesn’t mind that they don’t know about foreign superheroes.
“When my children were still very young, I introduced them not to Marvel, or Disney but Ondel-ondel, Arjuna, Gatotkaca and the likes,” said Hanung as reported by Kompas, Saturday (14/5).

Hanung was especially enthusiastic about introducing wayang characters to his children since he directed Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca. However, he also had a dilemma because his children were considered a country bumpkin because they did not know about Spiderman or other western superheroes.
