Govt forms special team to address cyber attack by hacker Bjorka

Jakarta, IO – The government has formed a special team to handle increased cyber attacks from hacker who calls himself after a meeting at the State Palace, Monday (12/9).

Communications and Information (Kominfo) Minister Jhonny G Plate said the cyber attacks on government agencies and other parties recently could not be tolerated. The team will take necessary steps to prevent future attacks from happening.

“There needs to be an emergency response team with expertise in data maintenance and management to maintain public trust,” said Plate as reported by CNN Indonesia, Tuesday (13/9).

Plate said the team would consist of personnel from the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN), Kominfo, National Police, and State Intelligence Agency (BIN). However, Plate is still reluctant to reveal details of the task force’s duties and when the team will start working.

The emergence of a hacker who calls himself Bjorka has made the public restless. He has attacked a number of government websites and sold stolen personal information.

One of the shocking data leaks is President Jokowi’s correspondence. The hacker claimed to have obtained letters from BIN to Jokowi in recent years. Most recently, Bjorka revealed someone who he claimed to be the mastermind behind the death of social activist Munir Said Thalib in 2004. (un)
