“Gerindra is a nationalist-religious party and PKB is a religious-nationalist party. This similarity is what binds and encourages us to work together to tackle all the problems faced by Indonesia, now and in the future,” said Muhaimin to rapturous cheers from cadres of the two parties.
Prabowo Subianto concurred. He pointed to PKB’s hymn, composed by a Catholic named Alfred Simanjuntak, as a clear sign that epitomizes PKB as an open party.
“Let’s rise up, march forward undaunted, defend what’s right, consolidate our ranks with PKB! This is the Gerindra party, this is what the Gerindra party wants!” Prabowo asserted passionately to the roaring applause from the audience.
In the first day of the rapimnas on Friday (12/8), Prabowo Subianto stated that he is ready to carry the aspirations of all Gerindra’s cadres and formally accepted his nomination as the party’s candidate for the 2024 presidential election. (rr)
