The global pandemic has altered people’s lifestyles and made them more cautious about their health and fitness. Outdoor sports have become a new normal and chosen lifestyle during the pandemic, over the past two years. A 2021 global fitness and exercise trend survey released by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) states that smart wearable devices placed 2nd above outdoor sports, in 4th position.
Outdoor sports are trending in Indonesia, as proven by the sharp increase of Garmin users, up 24 percent. Garmin Indonesia recorded pleasing growth in outdoor sports, namely cycling, hiking, mountain climbing and other outdoor sports, such as paddle boarding, bouldering, and rock climbing, which escalated over 100 percent. Bouldering reached the highest growth of interest, marking a rise of nearly 500 percent. Garmin also reported 26 percent of outdoor GPS devices growth within the first Q3, which indicated an increase in outdoor sports.
The increased usage of Garmin connects with its expanded solar panel surface feature, which optimizes charging better than 200 percent compared to the previous generation. The improved Power Manager function and the fènix 7-times battery life have allowed Garmin to hold 24 days of battery life with UltraTrac Mode.
The new Real-Time Stamina feature allows users of 40 advanced exercise modes suitable for sports such as mountaineering, triathlon, bouldering, cross-country running and more to monitor their physical strength and adjust speed and intensity in real-time. The feature helps athletes set strategies and manage their power for long-distance races at different intervals.
Other features from Garmin, such as the Up Ahead feature, will help athletes set strategies before a game. Garmin Connect helps create routes and mark waypoints; after syncing with fènix 7, they can quickly view checkpoints, drinking water stations, medical posts and other route data.
Fènix 7X is the first smartwatch with a built-in flashlight with four brightness levels and an activated red flashlight to display an SOS signal for critical situations. For night runners, the feature of running a rhythm-adjusted flashlight will alternately emit white and red lights, to increase personal safety.
