In his opening remarks, the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute Jakarta, HE Maria Battaglia said, “That the purpose of organizing this event is to promote Italian food as food of the highest quality. She reminded us that we should not buy anything especially if it is related to food. “We have to be careful when it comes to buying food products, and we want people to become familiar with Italian food products which are highest in quality”.

Meanwhile, Professor Irene Calboli emphasized the importance of geographical indications to promote the local economy in the global market. There are some examples of products that though protection has grown and become well known, and are better protected in the global market. The registration of the product based on geographical indication will not only increase the product but also the value of the product.

The following days are dedicated to cinema with culinary themes. Every day at 18.30, a selection of Italian films are screened: La Cena per farli conoscere (A Dinner for them to meet) by Pupi Avati, Vino dentro (Re Wined) by Fernando Vicentini and L’abbuffata (The Feast) by Mimmo Calopresti
