Jakarta, IO – DHL Express, the world’s leading international express service provider, has opened a new service center in Indonesia, located in Bekasi, West Java, also known as the largest industrial area in Southeast Asia. DHL has invested EUR 3.4 million (approximately Rp59 billion) in this facility, extending its footprint in Indonesia.

Ahmad Mohamad, Senior Technical Advisor, DHL Express Indonesia, explains that the facility is the first of four “green facilities” in Indonesia to be inaugurated over the next two years. “Indonesia is our strategic market, and this investment shows our support and commitment to the country. In line with the company’s vision, we built this facility with energy-saving solutions,” added Ahmad.

Home to 17 delivery vehicles, the new 2,900 square meter facility will see 30% of its power generated by solar panels. In addition, the new West Java facility is equipped with modern features such as a full drive-in facility with direct loading capability, a motorized conveyor system, a telescopic conveyor, automated weighing and dimensioning equipment, a motion sensor for office lighting and a conveyor weight sensor.

These sustainable features are aligned with DHL Express’s green logistics commitment, where it started to use electric motorbikes and delivery vans in early 2021. The company plans to electrify at least half of its feet by 2024. Additionally, DHL Express uses solar energy for its Jakarta Distribution Center.
