Depok City nominated for the UNESCO Creative Cities Network

Depok, IO – Depok mayor Mohammad Idris welcome the city’s nomination as one of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN), representing Indonesia in the category of media arts. The nomination was decided in the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry (Kemenparekraf) meeting on May 26.

According to him, Depok is very confident as a delegation from West Java to become city of media arts .

“The progress of Depok since its establishment on April 27, 1999 has shown rapid progress. We are confident to become West Java delegation, after Bandung became the city of design in 2015,” said Mohammad, Thursday (8/6).

He said that Depok City must be able to unlock its full potential in media arts in its 24th anniversary.

“Depok has political will and the potential of its youth which account for 71 percent of its total population of 2.2 million people,” he said.

He said Depok is planning to build a Creative Building as a creative center for the community.

“God willing, Depok will have a creative centers, so there will be designated places for young people to express their creativity in Depok City Square Park and City Forest Square Park in Sawangan Bojongsari,” he said. (nhn)
