Jakarta, IO – Recently, the public has been irked by scores of foreign tourists violating regulations in Bali. For example, they committed illegal acts and did not heed traffic rules.

To reduce the number of violations, the Bali provincial administration has issued regional regulation which stipulate a number of prohibitions for tourists, reported Kompas, Friday (9/6).

Most notably, Circular Letter 4/2023 signed by Bali Governor I Wayan Koster. Effective from Wednesday (31/5), foreign tourists must observed these rules while they are on the Island of the Gods. These include prohibiton from entering and desecrating holy or sacred places such as temples.

“Except for the purposes of praying by wearing Balinese traditional clothes, and not having your period (menstruation),” one of the rules read.

Foreign tourists are also prohibited from climbing sacred trees. This was a response to an incident not so long ago when a Russian tourist posed naked next to a sacred tree at a temple in Tabanan regency.
