Jakarta, IO – The Chinese military held a major war game in the Taiwan Strait after the visit by the US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taipei. The joint drills conducted inside Taiwan’s territorial waters will last until Sunday (7/8).

AFP reporters reported that the Chinese military fired missiles into the Taiwan Strait from a nearby military installation, producing a plume of white smoke and a loud explosion at around 13:13 local time.

The Chinese military confirmed that they had fired “long-range live-fire exercises.”

“Precision strikes were carried out in certain areas east of the Taiwan Strait and the expected results were achieved,” the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command said, reported Kompas on Thursday (4/8)

“The Chinese military’s conducting of military exercises in the sea near China’s Taiwan are a necessary and just measure to resolutely protect national sovereignty,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in a media briefing.
