Jakarta, IO – The Indonesian Child Protection Agency (LPAI) chairman Seto Mulyadi, popularly known as Kak Seto, said the community needs to create a complaint service at the neighborhood unit (RT) level.

He said community empowerment needs to be carried out in response to the increasing number of cases of child sexual abuses, per Tribunnews, Tuesday (15/8).

“There is not enough community empowerment. Complaining to the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) or LPAI is too far. To the police, children are not brave enough. On the other hand, going to the RT is easier,” he said.

According to Seto, it is important to build awareness and closeness among local residents so that they can protect one another and prevent sexual abuse from happening.

“The opportunity is wide open because the community doesn’t care. What’s important is that residents are made aware, not only after the incident occurred, but the prevention measures should also be given attention,” said Seto.
