Jakarta, IO – Good news for YouTube content creators or YouTubers. Content that already has an intellectual property certificate can now be used as bank collateral.
Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly said this was in accordance with Government Regulation (PP) 24/2022 on creative economy which was signed by President Joko Widodo on July 12, Kompas reported on Wednesday (27/7).
“So if you have an intellectual property certificate, or a brand, or a copyright, a song copyright, if you have created a song, it goes to YouTube. If it has millions of views, the certificate already has a value. If you want to, you can use it as bank collateral,” said Yasonna.
He explained that financial institutions will later determine the value of the intellectual property. The higher the value and potential of the copyrighted work, brand or patent owned, the larger the loan that can be taken.
