Meanwhile, Acting Director General of Intellectual Property Razilu said those who want to register their work with the directorate will have to pay a fee.
“There is a fee for registration. It is regulated in PP 28, as PNBP [non-tax state revenue]. And we divide the cluster as well. For MSMEs and educational institutions the fee will be lower,” said Razilu.
Razilu said the cost would not burden MSME players, musicians and filmmakers. “The cost will not be burdensome. For MSMEs it is only Rp500,000 for 10 years,” he continued.
Musician Ariel NOAH welcomed the regulation. According to him, a song as creative work has value according to law.
“I’m a songwriter, I really know the value of a song. If the song has been patented, it will have value and maybe we don’t know how much, but it depends on how valuable it is,” said Ariel.
