6,000 Yogyakarta Residents to Migrate to Nusantara

Jakarta, IO – Head of Protection and Job Placement Expansion of Job Opportunities and Transmigration for the Yogyakarta Manpower and Transmigration Agency, Elly Supriyanti, revealed that more than 6,000 Yogyakarta residents will be sent to Nusantara Capital City (IKN) through the transmigration program.

According to her, the people of Yogyakarta already have skills in agriculture which will help them to become successful transmigrants, per Republika, Wednesday (26/7).

“We believe this transmigration program will improve their welfare and they can play a role in the development of IKN,” she said.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the Directorate General of Development of Transmigration Areas, Sigit Mustofa Nurudin, explained that the large area slated for transmigration in IKN is a big opportunity for transmigrants to support food security.

The transmigrants can also seize opportunities in craftmaking and service sector. “This is expected to attract the interest of the millennial generation to take part in the transmigration program,” she added.

Meanwhile, Bantul regent Abdul Halim Muslih revealed that the people of Bantul are known to be resilient and competitive. “Human resources in Bantul can be empowered and developed through training that will be conducted at the job training centers (BLK),” said Abdul. (at)
