Jakarta, IO – The incident happened at the Prophet’s Mosque (Al-Masjid an-Nabawi), Medina, Sunday (5/2). Indonesian Consular General in Jeddah Eko Hartono confirmed that two Democratic Party cadres Gibran and Cakim unfurled the flag of their party when they performed umrah (minor haj).
“Cakim unfurled the flag, while Gibran took the picture,” said Eko, reported Merdeka, Friday (10/2).
Eko added that based on the report he received, Gibran and Cakim were traveling with an entourage of Democratic Party faction members of the Karawang Regional Legislative Council (DPRD).
Eko explained that local regulations strictly prohibit anyone from taking pictures around the Nabawi Mosque area with symbols of any kind.

“It’s prohibited to take pictures with any flag or symbol of an organization including political party at the Prophet’s Mosque and Grand Mosque,” he explained.
Eko said the matter has been resolved and both of them have returned to Indonesia. (un)
