According to him, the regulation did not contradict the Constitutional Court (MK) ruling which annulled articles on insults to authorities.

The court only granted the petition for articles 134, 135, and 136 but rejected the petition for article 207. Eddy said the Constitutional Court’s judgement was to change the offense of the article into an offense warranting complaint.

“That’s why I dare those who are against it to bring it court, they wouldn’t dare because it is bound to be rejected,” said Eddy.

House Committee III member Nasir Djamil on Friday (25/6) did not deny that there are a number of norms in the RKUHP which still contain “spirit of colonialism.”

However, Nasir admitted that everything should be returned to the opinion of each individual. His committee advise the parliament and civil society to find a common ground on crucial articles in the RKUHP.
