Jakarta, IO – Perseid meteor shower is predicted to occur in mid-August. The rare celestial phenomenon will be visible on Saturday (12/8) late in the evening until the first light of dawn on Sunday (13/8). It is estimated to last about 16 hours.

Perseid is one of the two most anticipated annual meteor showers this year, besides the Geminid in December, per Tempo.co, Thursday (10/8).

Observers say that Perseid usually produce bright, blazing meteors which leave behind a subtle trail behind them.

Last year the moon’s bright light obscured the sight of a meteor shower, but experts have confirmed it won’t happen this year. The year 2023 is said to be the right time to witness Perseid.

Everyone can watch Perseid with the naked eye. However, if you want to observe the sky and astronomy, you can also use a pair of binoculars or a small telescope.

People who want to watch the highly anticipated meteor shower are advised to do so from a place far from the city’s light pollution. The sky in mid-August will be very dark because the crescent moon will fade by almost 8 percent. (un)
