Jakarta, IO – President Joko Widodo wore the traditional costume from Buton, Southeast Sulawesi during the commemoration of Indonesia’s Independence Day at the Merdeka Palace, Wednesday (17/8).

“This is a costume from Buton, Southeast Sulawesi. This is called Dolomani shirt,” said Jokowi, according to the Cabinet Secretary’s website, Wednesday (17/8).

Dolomani is the dress worn by the Sultan of Buton when attending official ceremonies of the sultanate. Usually, Dolomani is black, but Jokowi chose to wear one with shades of red and white. It matches perfectly with the red sarong and skullcap. Other accessories include sulepe (belt), ewanga (kris or dagger), and katuko (stick).
