Jakarta, IO – Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) officially tendered his resignation to State Secretary Pratikno, Thursday (5/10).
SYL is allegedly involved a gratification case. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has also stepped up investigation on him, per Tempo, Friday (6/10).
KPK searched his official residence while he was on an official visit to Europe. His whereabouts was briefly unknown before he finally returned to Indonesia on Thursday (5/10).
According CNN Indonesia, In connection with this case, yesterday he went to Jakarta Metropolitan Police to provide statement regarding alleged extortion by one of the KPK leaders when the anti-corruption agency was investigating alleged corruption at Agriculture Ministry on August 12.

He said he was questioned for about three hours by the investigators. Other than SYL, six other individuals have been questioned by the police related to the case.
SYL is the second minister from NasDem Party to be accused of corruption. Previously, Communications and Information Minister Johnny G. Plate was arrested by the Attorney’s General Office (AGO) for his alleged involvement in the corruption case related to the construction of 4G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS). (un)
