IO – Strolling around the Grand Depok City (GDC), there stands a captivating new place, inviting us to enter: .Rindu Coffee & Venue (read: Titik Rindu, literally translated the Yearning Point). The place, recognizable by its modern look, is strategically located.
An enormous rocky parking lot, neatly-decorated open space, and the monochromatic building all spark a cozy vibe for passersby. The home shaped building dominated by black is covered with glass and surrounded by trees at every corner, emphasizing a modern style with a natural touch. The cafe consists of two floors with a .Rindu logo at the top.
At the front area of this cafe is made an instagrammable spot where visitors, who are welcomed as ‘sahabat rindu’, can take selfies or wefies. Although connected, the cafe has three different areas, indoor, outdoor, and rooftop area. The indoor area, right behind the glass wall can accommodate up to 15 visitors. The concrete floor gives off a homey touch.
In the indoor area stands a stairway to the rooftop area which can accommodate up to 20 visitors. The rooftop is an open space with a view of elite housing in Depok. It is a nice spot to enjoy your coffee with friends in the area, especially in the evening and at night, when you can enjoy the breeze.
Meanwhile, the outdoor area starts right after the parking lot and leads straight to the gate of the indoor area. The area is filled with trees and covered with small colorful lamps and has a concrete floor that matches the indoor area decorated with pebbles. The outdoor area is the biggest in .Rindu Coffee & Venue, completed with a small stage for live music.
Rahmawati Permatasari, Marketing Executive of .Rindu Coffee & Venue, explained that the concept of the place is industrial modern, while the name .Rindu signifies that .Rindu is a place for people to meet, and hang out to cure their longing. “We guarantee customers can enjoy, and gather with their friends and family while gazing at the beautiful view outdoors,” explained Rahma.
.Rindu Coffee & Venue was inaugurated on October 18, 2020, by owner Nurhikmah Widianingsih. The cafe is located in Jl. Masjid Nurul Huda, Kampung Serab, Depok, around GDC. Initially, .Rindu was located in a shophouse near Aladin Depok Fantasy Waterpark GDC, not far from the current location.
“We observed that today, cafes in shophouses are not popular anymore, because these days people not only go to a cafe for coffee and foods, but also to hang out. So we decided to move and provide more space, while also offering takeaway in line with COVID-19 protocol,” she continued.
Featured Menu.
.Rindu has its own style of fried rice, Nasi Goreng Titik Rindu, which not only consists of fried rice, fresh vegetables, pickles, crackers, but is also complemented with a special topping like Chicken Katsu, Chicken Karaage, Chicken Wings, and eggs. However, .Rindu also offers Nasi Goreng Kampung consisting of fried rice with vegetables. The cafe offers a variety of snacks, among them, French Fries and Homemade Churros, sprinkled with sugar icing, cinnamon powder topped with crunchy choco so it tastes sweet and crunchy.
.Rindu’s best seller drink is Kopi Titik Rindu. The menu is a combination of Aceh Gayo coffee, milk, and brown sugar. It can be enjoyed either hot or iced. Other coffee menus include Kopi Susu Pandan, Kopi Susu Pisang, and others. For non-coffee drinkers, the cafe offers Lychee Yakult, milkshake, Lemon Tea, Taro Regal, Taro Latte, and Red Velvet.
A Suitable Venue.
.Rindu also provides a venue for various events such as meetings, gatherings, birthday parties, even intimate weddings. All areas of the place can be used as a venue, whether the indoor, outdoor area and rooftop, if customers want an open space. According to Rahma, not too long ago, people held a meeting in the rooftop area.
Reservation requirements for venues such as social gatherings is a minimum order of IDR 50,000 per person. Meanwhile, for intimate wedding events, there are optional packages such as the 100 pax package and the 200 pax package.
Although it is classified as a new cafe, .Rindu has a lot of visitors to come and go. When packed, the cafe can accommodate around 160 visitors. However, generally, the visitors don’t stay for long, so in a day there can be up to 300 ‘sahabat rindu’ who come around.
To promote the cafe, .Rindu uses the @titik.rindu.kopi Instagram account and Depok social media. Also, .Rindu often gives discounts, not only at its opening, but also almost every day. Every Friday, .Rindu announces a discount through her Instagram social media account. With this promotion, ‘sahabat rindu’ who attend are not only from the communities around GDC and Depok, but also from other areas such as Medan, Bandung, and others.
.Rindu cafe not only has a market segment among millennials, but also families. From Monday to Thursday the cafe operates from 11.00 to 20.00 WIB with orders closing at 20.00 WIB. For weekends on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, .Rindu is open from 08.00 to 20.00 WIB. The facilities available for visitors include free wifi, a prayer room, a large parking area, and others. Here, live music is presented every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 16.00 to 20.00 WIB.
During this pandemic, Rindu continues to implement health protocols, starting from washing hands/ hand sanitizers, checking temperatures, wearing masks, and maintaining distance. (Kartika Indah)
