Red-and-White Covid-19 vaccine being mulled for a fourth dose campaign

Jakarta, IO – Main researcher of the Red-and-White Covid-19 vaccine Prof. Fedik Abdul Rantam of Airlangga University said his team is preparing to use the vaccine for the fourth dose in Indonesia’s vaccination campaign.

“We hope that after the clinical trials of the Red-and-White Covid-19 vaccine is completed it can be administered as the fourth dose,” Fedik told Antara on Monday (11/7).

He explained that the vaccine, developed since May 12, 2020, has gone through the third phase of clinical trials which began in June 28. His team has signed up 1,100 volunteers from a total of 4,005 needed for the clinical trial. “The phase three clinical trial is underway. So far the results are good,” said Fedik.

Vaccine reactions to volunteers in the third phase were observed at dr. Soetomo Surabaya, Airlangga University Hospital in Surabaya, Saiful Anwar Hospital in Malang, Jember Pulmonary Hospital, and Subandi Hospital, also in Jember.
