Jakarta, IO – Indonesian National Team coach Shin Tae Yong, strongly protested the results of Vietnam vs Thailand match in the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup. The South Korean coach considered Thailand and Vietnam to be cowards because they deliberately eliminate the Indonesian national team from qualifying because the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Thus, the Indonesian U-19 team fail to make it into the next round despite winning big over Myanmar.
“Thailand and Vietnam may be afraid of Indonesia. I am offended and not happy. Vietnam and Thailand also feel that Indonesia is getting stronger and better, that’s why they are doing that,” Shin Tae Yong was quoted as saying by CNN Indonesia, Monday (11/7).
He explained that based on the 10 Fair Play Code issued by FIFA, Vietnam and Thailand did not uphold fair play. “It didn’t make sense that we couldn’t qualify. Our opponents should uphold the principle of play fair, but in reality it’s the opposite,” said Shi Tae Young.
