Jakarta, IO – Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto is optimistic that Indonesia can achieve self-sufficiency in fighter jets in the next five years, following a host of cooperations between Indonesia and a number of countries in joint production of fighter aircrafts.

“That’s why we cooperate with South Korea, and with several other countries, so we hope that in five years’ time we can have our own indigenously-produced fighter jets,” Prabowo said in a press conference at the Indo Defense 2022 Expo & Forum on Thursday (27/10).

Prabowo said he has a full confidence in the ability of the nation’s children as Indonesia has been able to produce a number of superior individual weapons, combat vehicles, naval vessels and submarines. Indonesia has also regularly emerged always the winner in military shooting competitions, including at the Indo-Pacific region.
