Police names Bharada E as suspect in high-profile cop shooting case

Jakarta, IO – The investigation into Brigadier J’s death has entered a new phase. The police have named Bharada E as a suspect in the fatal shooting of the aide de camp to the Police internal affairs chief Inspector General Ferdy Sambo.

“The examination of witnesses led to the designation of Bharada E as a suspect,” said Bareskrim general crimes director Brigadier General Andi Rian, as reported by CNN Indonesia, Thursday (4/5).

Brigadier J was reportedly shot by Bharada E at Ferdy Sambo’s official residence at Duren Tiga police residential compound in South Jakarta, Friday (8/7). Although it happened on Friday, the incident was revealed to the public on Monday (11/7).

The police said the shooting started with Brigadier J attempting to sexually abuse Ferdy Sambo’s wife. He shot Bharada E when the latter rushed to her aid, and Bharada E shot back, killing him in the gunfight.

National Police chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo has formed a special team to investigate the incident. In addition, the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) has also conducted an independent investigation into the case. The police promised the public that the investigation will be carried out thoroughly and transparently. (un)
