Cambodia, IO – The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) urged Myanmar to stop execution of political prisoners. The warning was issued by ASEAN after Myanmar sentenced four pro-democracy activists to death by hanging last month.

The execution carried out by Myanmar military junta has drawn worldwide condemnation. ASEAN foreign ministers are currently discussing how to deal with the crisis in Myanmar at a meeting in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

“If more and more prisoners are executed, we will be forced to rethink our role towards the ASEAN 5-Point Consensus,” Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said, as reported by Merdeka, Thursday (4/8).
